Abstract
In this paper, a new multivariable analysis framework called Individual Channel Analysis and Design (ICAD) is evaluated with respect to a distillation column control problem. ICAD is a framework which provides both insight and a systematic approach to classically inspired multivariable frequency domain control analysis and design. The semibatch distillation column control problem is chosen as a problem representative of the multivariable issues in process control and is evaluated with a computer simulation of both a linearized model and a nonlinear model of the closed-loop system.
