Abstract
A Lyapunov function for the analysis of a class of reaction-diffusion systems is presented. The Lyapunov function reduces the system to a single reaction-diffusion equation for which the maximum principle can be applied. The method is limited in its applicability, but very quickly yields important results when it can be used. An application to an epidemiological system is given.
