Abstract

Several studies have shown that most commercial incident management systems (IMS) have been designed for large metropolitan cities and within the context of developed nations. The primary aim of this research is to explore ways to guide emergency response teams in developing countries towards the adoption of appropriate IMS solutions that best fit the socio-technical, organizational, cultural and linguistic contexts in which these systems will be used. To this end, the research proposes a conceptual framework for guiding towards the adoption of appropriate IMS solutions in DCs. We present a case study to test the practical and theoretical relevance of our conceptual framework.
